Medical issue kills bicyclist at Lebanon Hills Park in Eagan, police say

The death of a 40-year-old man at Lebanon Hills Park on Monday is being attributed to a “serious medical event,” Eagan police said Tuesday.

Just before 7 p.m., police and medical personnel responded to a report of a man who was involved in a bicycle crash at the park and was not breathing. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office will determine a cause of death and release the man’s identity.

“There is no foul play suspected in this incident, and preliminary evidence suggests this death is attributed to a serious medical event,” Eagan police said in a statement.

The 911 caller told police that he saw the man crash and that he appeared uninjured. A short time later, the man lost consciousness.

“This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased,” police said.
