17-year-old boy fatally shot in Fridley, authorities say

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy was fatally in Fridley late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Anoka County sheriff’s office, Fridley police were called to the scene of a shooting in the 6100 block of Fifth Street Northeast around 5:45 p.m. Other 911 callers reported multiple shots being fired there.

Officers arriving at the scene found the teenage victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

The victim, who was from Minneapolis, was not identified pending notification of relatives.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation was continuing but that the shooting did not appear to be random or otherwise pose a public risk.

The sheriff’s office is assisting Fridley police with the case.
