Pedestrian hospitalized in critical condition after St. Paul crash

A 64-year-old pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition after a driver struck her in St. Paul, police said Tuesday.

A witness reported the woman appeared to walk in front of a moving sedan in the Payne-Phalen area at about 5:45 p.m. Monday, according to Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman. She was hit at Edgerton Street and Jenks Avenue.

The driver rendered aid to Lia Lor, as did people in vehicles behind him, Linders said. Paramedics took Lor to Regions Hospital. Police said she sustained a head injury and broken bones.

The crash is under investigation. Police cited the driver, Johnnie Mckay III, 23, of St. Paul, for not having a driver’s license or proof of insurance, according to a police report.
