Business People: Alerus Financial files for IPO; APi, Kohnstamm acquired

Alerus Financial Corp., a Grand Forks, N.D.-based financial services company with operations in the Twin Cities, announced the launch of its initial public offering. Alerus is offering 3.25 million shares of its common stock with an initial public offering price expected between $22 and $24 per share. The common stock is expected to trade on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the ticker symbol “ALRS.” Alerus’ Twin Cities headquarters are in Minnetonka.

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

APi Group Inc., a New Brighton-based holding company for business service subsidiaries, announced that will be acquired by J2 Acquisition Ltd. of the British Virgin Islands for $2.9 billion, as a first step for APi becoming a public company. … Minneapolis marketing agency Broadhead announced it has has acquired Kohnstamm Communications, a food public relations agency based in St. Paul.
