St. Paul tallies fourth gun death in a week, as late-night shooting leaves 1 dead

A man was killed in St. Paul’s Payne-Phalen area Monday night, hours after another person was fatally shot in the city’s North End.

Police are investigating a vehicle crash and shooting death that happened about 10 p.m. at Edgerton Street and Case Avenue.

A woman on the block said it was her brother-in-law who died.

Police said they will release additional information early Tuesday.

The homicides on Monday are the 17th and 18th of the year in St. Paul, and the third and fourth in a week’s time.

Police said earlier Monday that at least 110 people have been wounded or killed by gunfire this year. There were 90 through the end of August last year.
