Enjoying the warmth today? Snow might be right around the corner

Take in the warm weather today — it might not return for a very long time.

The Twin Cities are expected to see a high near 72 on Wednesday, and it could be the last high in the 70s for the next 5 or 6 months, the National Weather Service said.

The weather will turn cold this week, with highs falling to near 65 on Thursday, near 45 on Friday, near 39 on Saturday and near 41 on Sunday, according to a weather service forecast.

Chances for rain Thursday and Friday turn to chances of rain and snow Friday night through Sunday.

Highs in the 40s are expected to continue Monday and Tuesday.

Average highs for this time of year are near 60.
