Man hospitalized after being burned in St. Paul house fire

A man was burned in a St. Paul house fire that firefighters battled in frigid temperatures Wednesday night.

Paramedics took him to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries, said Deputy Fire Chief Roy Mokosso.

Police officers responded to the house at Griffith and Euclid streets about 9 p.m. after a female called 911. She was crying and screaming, but it was unknown what the incident was, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesman.

Officers found a male who was conscious and breathing, suffering from burns, Ernster said.

The occupants of the home got out on their own, Mokosso said.

“Cold temperatures and below zero windchills posed some challenges but crews were quickly able to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage,” the fire department posted on Facebook.

There was significant damage to the home and the fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
