South Dakota House committee passes bill that opponents say would effectively ban transgender children from youth sports

Rep. Rhonda Milstead, a Hartford Republican, brought a bill to Pierre on Monday that seeks to ensure fairness in youth sports for girls by barring transgender girls from participation. Both sides of the debate acknowledged only one transgender athlete has participated in sanctioned sports in South Dakota over the past decade.
