Workshops seek public input on housing mix for The Heights development at former Hillcrest golf club

The St. Paul Port Authority plans to redevelop 112 acres of land off Larpenteur Avenue and McKnight Road — the site of the former Hillcrest golf club — into a business and residential community known as The Heights.

In partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation Twin Cities, the Port Authority will host two housing workshops to gather community input about the preferred types of housing and levels of affordability.

The St. Paul City Council has approved a master plan for The Heights, but decisions have not yet been made about the housing mix for up to 1,000 residential units. Based in part on public feedback, the Port Authority plans to select a master developer in coming months.

The workshops will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and Sept. 8 at the Beloved United Methodist Church. Afterward, LISC will take community input and package it into a recommendation for the St. Paul Port Authority to share with a future housing developer.

Residents who live near The Heights are invited to RSVP for the event at sppa.com/lisc-housing-sessions. Pizza and soft drinks will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
